The above picture makes the purpose of the buttons relatively obvious.
When you press the menu button, you are presented with the following options:
You can move from one option to the next using the Volume up/down keys. The “back” option obviously takes you back to normal mode shown in the screen above. If you simply leave the UI alone, it will return by itself to normal mode, after about 5 seconds of no user action.
The second option, “balance”, is quite obvious.
“playmode” presents you with the following options:
These options allow you to specify how the next song is to be selected. “Sequential” simply plays the songs as they appear on the drive. When the end of a directory is reached, it will continue at the first song in the next directory. “Random All” chooses a random song from the entire drive. It works by first selecting a random directory, and then a random song inside this randomly selected directory. When the player is in this mode, the prev/ nxt song and prev/nxt dir all have the same function. “Repeat” will simply repeat the same song over and over. Handy for teaching a parrot, but not much else..
The unit is switched off by holding in the PREV DIR key. When switched off, the processor remains active, but the hard drive is physically switched off via a relay.
The unit can be switched on again by pressing any key.
The unit is put into FFWD mode by holding in the NXT Song key. Normal speed can be reached again by pressing the play key.
All current settings are automatically saved to eeprom memory every 5 minutes. These settings include:
These settings are also saved when power-off is selected, or when the user exits from the menu. When the unit powers up again, it will retrieve the saved settings, and fade in, playing at the same position in the same song at the same volume setting where it was switched off.
